Our Philosophy —
Open to the World, Grounded in Excellence

We believe every child can achieve their full potential when guided with warmth, structure, and purpose. See how these principles shape our bilingual preschool program . At Koala, education is not just about what children learn — it is about who they become.

Our Mission

Education That Goes Beyond the Classroom

Our mission is clear — to educate, inspire, and empower every child intellectually, emotionally, and physically. We give equal weight to effort, progress, and achievement. No child is measured against another. Every child is measured against their own potential.

We believe a great early education builds two things simultaneously — a strong academic foundation and a strong character. The two are inseparable. A child who knows how to focus, persist, collaborate, and empathize will succeed in any classroom, in any language, anywhere in the world.

At Koala, we are building that foundation—in English and French, every day, from the very beginning. Learn more about the benefits of bilingual education.

Every child, through nurturing encouragement and wise guidance, can achieve their full potential and emerge as a responsible, curious, and confident global citizen.

What We Stand For

The Values at the Heart of Everything We Do

These are not words on a wall. They are reflected every day in our preschool classrooms, where experienced teachers guide children with consistency and care. They are the principles that guide how our teachers speak, how our classrooms are organized, and how every child is treated — every single day.

🤝

Kindness

Modeled by every adult, every day. Children learn kindness by experiencing it — consistently and without exception.

🙏

Respect

For peers, for teachers, for materials, for ideas. Respect is the foundation of a classroom where every child feels safe to try.

❤️

Empathy

Understanding others begins with being understood. We create the conditions where children develop genuine emotional intelligence.

🔍

Curiosity

Questions are welcomed, not silenced. We protect the natural curiosity children are born with and build on it every day.

💪

Determination

We teach children to stay with hard things. Persistence, effort, and the satisfaction of completing what you started.

🌱

Resilience

Mistakes are part of learning. Children who are allowed to fail safely develop the confidence to try again — and again.

🌍

Open-Mindedness

Two languages mean two ways of seeing the world. We celebrate diversity of thought, culture, and perspective from the very first day.

🤲

Community

School is not just a place to learn — it is a place to belong. We build genuine community between children, families, and teachers.

How We Teach

Three Principles That Drive Everything

The goal is not a child who speaks French. The goal is a child who thinks clearly, solves problems creatively, and approaches the world with confidence. French is the tool. The child is the masterpiece. This philosophy comes to life every day in our bilingual preschool program .

🗣️

Resonant Bilingualism

We do not do pure immersion — where children feel lost and anxious. We do not do translation — where children switch off in one language. We do something more effective: strategic mixing. Learn why this approach works .

French is used for structured learning — circle time, workshops, projects, stories. English is used naturally for support, reassurance, and clarity. Every child always feels understood. No child is ever left behind.

The two languages work together — supporting each other, building a single flexible cognitive system.

🔬

Active Projects

Children learn deeply when they work on something real and meaningful. Not worksheets. Not drills. Projects that have a point the child can touch, build, and share with pride.

When children build, create, measure, draw, and discuss — they are doing math, science, literacy, and art simultaneously. All of it in two languages, naturally, because language is in service of the work — not the other way around.

A worksheet has no point except to be completed. A project has a point the child can be proud of.

The Whole Child

Bilingualism is not just a language skill. It is cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development — all happening at once. We do not separate language from development. Language is woven into everything: building blocks, resolving a conflict, singing a song, listening to a story.

A child who feels safe learns more. A child who moves learns more naturally. A child who is truly seen develops confidence that extends far beyond the classroom — and far beyond French.

The goal is a child who thinks analytically, solves problems creatively, and approaches the world with curiosity and confidence. The French is a tool. The child is the masterpiece.
